2Maccabees 3:16
"Then whoso had looked the high priest in the face, it would have wounded his heart: for his countenance and the changing of his colour declared the inward agony of his mind."
Another example used that connects countenance (the look of your face), to how you feel / who you are at the time.

2Maccabees 5:6 - 5:10
"In the end therefore he had an unhappy return, being accused before Aretas the king of the Arabians, fleeing from city to city, pursued of all men, hated as a forsaker of the laws, and being had in abomination as an open enemy of his country and countrymen, he was cast out into Egypt."
The whole verse and verses prior explains what occured for this to happen. But, this reminds me of how judgment is formed, then served to wicked persons who think they are winning.

2Maccabees 6:2
"And to pollute also the temple in Jerusalem, and to call it the temple of Jupiter Olympius; and that in Garizim, of Jupiter the Defender of strangers, as they did desire that dwelt in the place."
Reminds me of what we see today with all the mount olympus, thor, hercules nonsense. In no doubt can every pagan traditions be tracked biblically.

2Maccabees 6:10
"For there were two women brought, who had circumcised their children; whom when they had openly led round about the city, the babes handing at their breasts, they cast them down headlong from the wall."
Unrelated, but this reminded me of the lore of ancient rome/spartia that said newborns were cast down into a pit if they were "Weak" or something. COULD be related to scripture somehow.

2Maccabees 6:13
"For it is a token of his great goodness, when wicked doers are not suffered any long time, but forthwith punished."
Good people suffer for a long time but God is also patient with us, and has mercy on our sins. While bad people strive for a short time ignorantly; but are immediately uprooted with no possible chance of resistance.

2Maccabees 6:18
"Eleazar, one of the principal scribes, an aged man, and of a well favoured countenance, was constrained to open his mouth, and to eat swine's flesh."
Swine is a pig. Moses got word from god about animals you should and should not eat. There may be some truth about pigs being a hybrid between human flesh and a hog/boar. May not be exactly what's going on though, and there could also be truth in how a grass fed animal will taste/be more nutritious than an animal that eats anything. So the law could have some hardcore truth in it. Also, for animals who don't chew cud, their non edibility could even be backed biologically. (2 stomachs to chew cud vs 1, if a pig eats dookie and rolls in mud, without extra processing, what % of dookie/mud are people who eat pigs eating in the meat?)
